I have a problem with my skeg, how do I fix my skeg? My skeg control lever only goes down to half way or is stuck
We recommend the following as different options to fix:
- Rest or lift the stern (rear of kayak) above the ground or water, so the skeg can lower and raise freely.
- Try to pull firmly on the skeg to get it down all the way, till skeg reaches its full down position (see picture below)
- Sometimes the skeg rope becomes loose and may get stuck at the tube entrance.
- By pulling it tight, it can now get back to a functional position.
- Use a vacuum cleaner and aspire as much as possible both extremes of the tubing (at the Sliding box and at the Skeg box) at the same time hitting the kayak with the palm of the hand trying to create some vibration to allow dust to come out.
Moving or trying to move the Sliding Button forward/ backward and the Skeg Blade up & down
Apply Silicone in Spray to both: sliding box, specially towards the hole where the Spectra line slides, and much more into the mechanism (spring and Skeg Support) moving it up/down frequently.
We hope that works.
